The Coming Year...

Sorry, this is a few days late. We held a fundraiser on Saturday and so Friday and Saturday were spent working hard out, all hours of the day.
This week we entered into our second week of prayer and fasting, and God has been speaking many things to us about the coming year.
For myself, personally, I'm feeling a bit unsure of where God is leading me. I have some plans as to what I'd like my year to look like, but I'm still waiting for God to confirm them to me.
Still, in all my Bible readings and prayer times, even emails and facebook messages that I've been receiving from friends and family, everything points to newness, a new time, a new season.
I am super grateful for the past year and for everything that has happened, but it has been a hard year on me personally, and so I'm ready for refreshing, however that may come. I have grown a lot though, and God has challenged me in a lot of different areas of my life.
I'm still not sure if a new season means a new place, but I'm seeking God's heart in this.
At the moment, I'll be staying on as staff here at least until the end of March. I'm leading a mini-DTS (as I've mentioned before) for three weeks in March.
I'm praying about heading to Asia for the month of April. I'm in contact with a few different YWAM bases, but I'll need quite a bit of funding to head out as a volunteer in Asia (mostly for airfares, but accommodation is more expensive than what I pay in the Cooks). After that I'm looking at heading home for about 6 weeks, to catch up with family and friends.
None of this is definite yet, so I would appreciate your prayers as I make this decision, and discern where and to what God is leading me.
Love to you all (and feel free to contact me on facebook or email...)

Second Blog for 2014

Here's to keeping commitments! Second blog for January 2014:)
So this past week, we went back to full-time work after our Christmas/New Year 'down' time. It has rained almost all week, the rainy season has hit with full force, but the rain is nice, it brings down the humidity and keeps everything a little cooler, plus we have lots of water again! Yay for water pressure!

But, this has been a good week. We've finished our first 5 days of praying and fasting for the year. Now I normally don't like to talk about fasting in public. In Matthew 6, Jesus talks about fasting in secret, so that the Lord will reward you openly. But I want to use this as an opportunity, if you would like to join in praying for the base, you can contact me at darlalawan@hotmail.com or what would probably work better is seeyou@ywamcooks.com, which I check regularly, and I can send you a list of our prayer points for the year. I believe that God wants to do amazing things in the Cook Islands in 2014, and I also believe that our best covering is in prayer, so especially for the next 16 days, I want to encourage you to pray with us, as we seek God's heart for this nation in the coming year!

This week I have spent a lot of time in the office, planning out the Mini-DTS, which I will be leading in March 2014. Basically it is a 3 week course, that runs lectures in the evenings, on many similar topics to the DTS. The target group is the local community, and we really want them to grow in their relationships with God, as well as develop a heart for serving in their local churches and villages. Please pray for me as I continue to plan and prepare for this.

That's mostly what I've been up to this week. I'll keep posting weekly, so shorter posts and less to read:) Just a thought from Jeremiah which God used to speak to me this week in closing,

Jeremiah 33:3 - "Call to Me and I will answer you, I will show you great and mighty things which you do not know."

2014

So...a new year...good-bye to the old and hello to the new!
First of all my apologies for the extreme delay in blogging. A few months ago, I was struggling financially, and cut my internet use, because there are other things more important than internet. God has completely provided for my every need, but now I'm very out of the habit of blogging...one of my goals for the new year though, is to begin posting more regularly again.

I just want to send out a big thank you to all my friends and family, especially my home church, who have supported me in the last year. I pray that God blesses you richly in the year to come, and I want you all to know that each donation, each card, each email, each prayer has been an extreme blessing, and always come right at the right moment.

I'm entering 2014 with no set goals or agenda. In the next few weeks, YWAM Cooks is fasting and praying together as a base and during that time I'll be spending some time personally setting goals and a personal vision for myself this year.

So far, in the past few weeks, God has laid on my heart these few words: a new beginning, salvation, and grace. I'm going to study these further during the next few weeks and see where and to what God is really calling me to.

I feel like this year will be bringing huge changes in my life, so I'm waiting to see where God opens/closes doors.

I'll be keeping you all posted, but I just really want to thank you all for your continued love and support! Stay in touch:)
I will do my best to do better...
Blessings and Happy New Year
